Laura Thornberry is in her 20th year of legal practice in the local Hampton Roads area. Since graduating from William and Mary Law School, she has handled complex Family Law matters, Contract disputes, Personal Injury cases, Education Law issues and Adult plus Juvenile Criminal work, including Traffic defense. In 2015, Ms. Thornberry secured an acquittal for a criminal defendant facing multiple charges which carried a potential Life Sentences. Ms. Thornberry has also handled a multitude of federal Social Security benefit cases in the Norfolk, Richmond and Newport News offices with notable success.
Ms. Thornberry handles cases throughout the Peninsula, Southside and Gloucester areas. Ms. Thornberry is admitted to the Virginia Supreme Court (1995) and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of Virginia (1996) and the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Virginia (1996).
Ms. Thornberry was born in Alexandria, Virginia and lived across America and in Germany as the daughter of a U.S. Army Chaplain father and a Teacher mother. After spending 2 years at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Ms. Thornberry graduated from The University of Virginia in Charlottesville with a History degree. Ms. Thornberry now lives in Williamsburg with her 2 teenagers.
